Loose ICS?

Alright, call me a kook for using ICS, but something's wonky. I've put the starnut in, and tightened it up all the way, but my headset is still just a little bit loose. Not so much that its unrideable, but its still incredibly noticeable and annoying. Any thoughts on what could be wrong and how I can fix it?

What's the difference? But I know that a lotta headset without metal lockrings come loose REALLY quick or just never get tight, but like FSA the pigs and stuff (metal lockrings) stay tight, I've rode a FSA the pig with threaded for about 2 weeks, never loosened...

Nah, its got that little slitted metal ring in it, if that's what you're talking about. If it keeps staying all wobbly like this I'm just gonna go seatpost compression.

Your starnut may not be in your bars far enough. So take out the bolt and try to push your starnut in farther, maybe a quarter inch, then tighten then bolt again

Also, usually when you tighten the bars enough or put enough pressure on the lock ring it will like clamp onto your fork. Try taping you bars with a rubber mallet when the clamp and ICS is loose. then tightening the ICS, then tightening the clamp

JUST to make sure, not trying to offend you, but you do loosen your clamp before you tighten your ICS, right? I know people that have had that problem because of that...

I may be jacked up on Percocet, but I do know enough to not do that. I think its just that the starnut isn't in far enough.

Turns out I broke the starnut while installing it, and the metal threaded part was turning separately of the actual starnut part. So it wouldn't tighten or loosen. Had to break the thing and get it out. I ordered a new one from the bike shop and its coming in today, should I just drop the coin and have them install it for me, or take the risk of breaking it and install it myself again?

most bike shops don't carry 1 1/4" starnuts though, so make absolutely sure that that's the size you ordered

I did. I looked in their parts directory and pointed it out. They ordered it in for me. And they have to charge for me, since the tool they need for it was at one of their other shops like an hour away and...yeah.
