Macs are hype.

First time editing on a mac today in school. Power mac G5, nice as shit... open up final cut, import my clips, FREEZES. Restart, import my clips, FREEZES! My laptop captures, edits, exports, burns without freezing or crashing, after its been on for about 3 years now haha.

I own SR.
I beg to differ. I am running Final Cut Studio on a 24" iMac 2.8ghz and it runs perfect for me. I haven't done anything too intense yet but it blows through everything I've tried so far.

The biggest downfall of PCs is the internet. When I got this Mac I reformatted my PC and took it offline permanently so it doesn't get screwed up and I just keep it for CAD design and such.

I agree, there fast. Everyone always says they never ever crash though... first time on one it crashed twice (this was 2 different computers, although i didn't mention it in the first post) There great computers, but there too hyped up. I'd still rather edit on Windows XP

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEVES
My macbook pro has only crashed once..and it was because I accidentally opened every program at the same time though. Sometimes Firefox freezes for a minute or 2 but o well. But yea, everyone just says they are better because its not Microsoft. I prefer using my PC over my mac..but thats only because I really don't even need the mac lol and half the stuff I use daily is only for windows. (could run them using crossover, but then they run slower)

exactly why i would never have a mac. i've run autocad though a windows emulator on a g5, and was still terrible because u had to run it through the emulator which made it so slow. although that is more of a software issue, i'm definitely sticking with pc.

Same, my PC is basically my movie player for my room and how I put music on my Zune.

Im running vista at the moment and its not giving me too much jip. I have no compatibility issues or anything. I have quite a powerful rig though. People should remember that when any new windows comes out everyone tries to avoid it and everything is incompatible but within a year or so everyones running it.

I do have to admit that XP will still be the system of choice for computer based people for a little while however the home market for PCs will be like 99% vista within a year

Need to setup drivers... usually it works with most wired cards, wireless is a bitch to setup. I had to setup a wireless card on my laptop and it took forever. It runs so much better than windows though, but you need to learn alot of stuff. If you plan on doing photo/video stuff, don't waste your time with linux.
