just confirming, The links you gave us to buy the metal is for oversized HIC, Right?

You can't do HIC in Aluminum.

Due to the wall thickness the ID is 1-1/8" so it won't fit over the HIC shim.

The OD is Oversize so you'll have to run an SCS that accepts OS bars.

great work man, doing this myself but with with something far lighter, carbon fibre and Ti. estimate 400 grams with only carbon, alu sleeved carbon would be around 550 grams and ti downtube will be about the same as alu/carbon but with 100x better stress tolerance but cost $80 more. oh yeah, 400 and 550 grams are whole bar at 24 w and h. lightest now is about 700 grams if that at 20x20 thats lasts a few weeks

I can assume that you know what you're doing, but I'd like to remind you that carbon fiber snaps/shatters. So if/when it does break, it could be pretty ugly.

thats why im adding alu into the picture if it is severe which im guessing it will be. i reckon ill get about 4 weeks out of it without alu sleeve and if thats it im happy with them numbers. ill skip finding thicker carbon tubing, hard enough to find in a size even close to scooter bars. oh and the crossbar is from the mtb industry so its already good enough.

damn billie those bars seems legit. people would definitely buy those.

but just to double check are the links that broccoli gave me the same as the normal BUFFs that were sold on SR? just want to make sure i don't mess up and waist my cash haha

6061-t6 Aluminum tubing.

1.375" OD x 0.125" WALL x 1.125" ID 6061 T6 TUBE

Cross bar
0.875" OD x 0.12" WALL x 0.635" ID 6061 T6 TUBE

Although the crossbar may bend on you but that's it in 7/8" Tubing so you would have to go with Solid bar sock for stronger.

You could also use
1.375" OD x 0.25" WALL x 0.875" ID 6061 T6 TUBE iffin' you are running SCS since the ID doesn't matter with SCS

This would give you 1/4" thick wall where as the Link is for 1/8" walled tubing which would allow you to also use the bars with ICS.

i am just going to be running SCS. but was your first link the original size of the buff bar downtube?

I can't say 100% if it is the same down tube since I have never had a pair of Buff Bars to measure but it is a high probability that is is the same Tubing since it is a common size and the only tubing that will fit over the Fork Tube when using a Threaded Fork Tube and regular Oversize clamp or ICS with a Non Threaded Fork.
