Because it actually takes 365 days and 6 hours for the earth to revolve around the sun, so every 4 years we compensate with an extra day.

I know how the rotation of our planet works, I just choose to not accept that these 24 hours ever occured or occur.

This is interesting.... I never knew that before^ I just thought the mayans were crazy

-________________________________________-

the gregorian calender has nothing to do with the mayan calender. the gregorian calender was introduced in the late 1500s by pope gregory. the mayan calender was made like 4000 years earlier.

we should have the day at the end of the year not in february.

or have it at the end of the year so christmas break is a day longer on leap years..

plus it makes no sense putting it in between the 2nd and 3rd month of the year.

Did February 29th occur last year? Or the year before?

No.

Therefore it is a fictional day made up to trick people into thinking they are living longer than they actually are.

Hahahahaha Bennett, I'm not quite sure that was the intention of the leap year

But I kinda agree with you, it always struck me odd that a day could just be created

But its every 4 years.
6x4=24.
There needs to be leap year or we're not being correct with the counting of days it takes for us to pass around the sun.

well the earth probably doesnt take exactly 365 and 6 hours. so we are probably off a few minutes or so which means that over time our calender is becoming offset with the way the world actually is.
confusing?
