Was it around the bearing? Because maybe the bearing rusted. Apparently aluminum does something like rusting, it's not the same as on steel, but sorta. My brother's old scooter had bars on it that weren't bolted or clamped because they had been out in the rain for ages.

it was very rusted... plus it was spray painted gold... so it kinda blended... well not too much but it was hard to tell... lol but yes the bearing was very rusty

I got myself banned.
it won't rust.

but they will turn yellow that doesn't mean you have to buy brand new ones though.

Steel rusts, aluminum oxidizes.

If the wheel had rust on it then it was from the bearing rusting. Rusted steel can stain the surface of aluminum too but it does not effect it.

dont worry about the rust.
but dont ride them in the wet or the urathane will turn yellow.
but you shouldnt ride any scooter in the rain so...
