Modding SR fork

My headset race wouldnt fit on my sr fork
so i had to sand down the weld on the middle of the fork
has this weakened my fork ?

I was told that the reason that v2.2 is stronger is because the weld isn't sanded down. although it shouldn't have affected it that badly provided you haven't sanded it too far.

as long as you sanded down the top of the welds and they dont look much different than they did, it does not matter

Technically the Pretruding part of the weld is the 'Reinforcement' which mean it would be weaker if you got rid of it but i think you should be ok if u just sanded it, if you had have used a grinder or some kind of machine it might be a different story.

mike he sanded it down because it was to wide for the race to fit over it

umm idk what ur takin about sr fork is one piece the legs and then the threads are welded on and when u get them u have to take ur old race off ur forks or the race that comes with ur headset and put it down on the forks so that the bearings have something ot sit on,.if thats what u mean by "two piece"
