A month is more then enough notice to get a day off of work and if your employer is not flexible enough to grant that then maybe he should be looking for a new job. I am missing 2 days of work and a day of school for this and I am driving 2,400 miles plus all the costs attached to that and you are doing just about the same Josh so you know what it means to sacrifice to be there. There are NO excuses not to be there for him after he preaches on and on about this being his life and how much he loves it then he needs to live it. People are spending hundreds of dollars and flying across the country to be there so if he can't be there for this comp then I cannot see him ever being here for this sport. The money he would lose in the time it would take him to get fired look and apply for a new job and get hired is what some of us are already sacrificing so him having no other option but to work for a hardware store on April 30, "the busiest day of the year" (which is nonsense) is a load of bullshit if you ask me.

I'm just lucky my uncle doesn't want to take me away from my riding. So he doesn't sweat me if I ask for a day off. He just wants to know at least a week before hand so he can prepare for it.

EDIT: I think he already asked his boss, and they said no.

Then he needs to give his 2 week notice... if he is a valued employee they will be willing to negotiate. If not then he needs to find something better.

Agreed, there really should be NO EXCUSES for people that close to this Comp, like everyone around the Tacoma area that rides, within like a 2 hour drive radius, should be there, NQA.

Yeah im going to hassle the skate shop here to put one on when they put one up for the SKateboarers BMX and Bladers.It couldnt do any worse than the rollerbladers who last year only had like 3 contestants. Any ideas on what i could say to them?I was thinking gimme scooter comp or ill kill you hahaha
