Need some help shopping for my son...

Don't go for the MGP for your son's first scooter. It's heavier than he needs, bulkier than he needs and isn't as easily customised as many other brands

Look for something like an Envy (their new complete is the 'king of spades') if you want something he can ride out of the box and have it last. A Razor ultra pro if you want to give him a base to build from. A District complete (v4) if you want something light, but will need some maintenance from time to time.
All of these should run you about the same money, and are all solid starting points.

Be warned, scooters aren't a cheap venture, as you've obviously discovered, be careful... It can be a slippery slope.

lopk in the sale sextion on here they might be used scooters but quality used scooters i am sure that you could get one for aboight 300 if you dont like that get him a mgp vx2 team edition a paerfect starter scooter comes whith metal cores flex brake fsa headset and 1 peice bars
of you get that you should pick up a pair of raptor grips or odi grips and a sheet of skate board griptape

If you need things shipped faster you should look around the webs to see if you have local shops that might have it, you can pick it up. Or if it's like a 2-3 hour drive you can get it shipped land for cheap and fast. I used to live in Olympia WA so I could get parts from Mothership Distribution in a day or so. I wouldn't go with the MGP unless he's a bigger kid but a district is a nice scooter for a beginner. Especially a younger one. Hope you can get it before Christmas!!

I dont get why people call the nitros heavy l. Either you guys are weight freaks or have never ridden the 2012 nitros. They feel solid and not heavy st all tbh.

They are saying that they ar eheavy for the kid they are buying it for. Normally when you start riding you ride a light scooter and progress up.

yeah I would try to get that or find another site that has it for a similar price, It is really the best scooter you can get for that price.

if your son is just starting out i would just buy him a razor ultra pro. or something along those lines. it is a light weight scooter and great for beginners. and on top of that it will hold up and is way less than half the price of many other scooters.

or you could get the razor pro xx with metal core wheels that will hold up a little longer. same height which is 21 high as the other bars, but it is 18 wide instead of 14.

i would definetely go with one of these scooters. preferably the razor pro xx. those are the cheapest prices that i could find of the two. and the amount of money that the scooter is gives you more spending to customize the scooter if you wish.

I would suggest the new line of Lucky scooters, nice, strong and cheap complete scooters. They come dialed and ready, i think they're pretty great myself.
The Lucky Crew scooter is about $230 and it comes pretty much set, Hidden internal compressin, Metal core wheels, T Bars, nice 1 piece deck and great forks. Can't really beat that deal...

Is a good scooter for an 11 year old kid? That's pretty cheap compared to some of the others I looked at. He currently has one of the ones that fold up... and this looks obviously better than what he has. I just didn't want him to be disappointed, and basically waste my money.
