New to Photography.

Hey, I'm really getting into photography. I'm new to this and I know there are thousands of cameras, and I was wondering whats a cheap and good starter camera to use? Does any old camera work? I'm also looking for some tips :D

Thanks guys. (P.S I got respect for some of the photos you guys take... Hella epic.)

buy a canon rebelG... it uses film and so you will have to learn to set everything up without knowing how your pictures will turn out which helps you learn to be a great photographer or you could join a photography class at your school next year so see if you really like it

or you can buy a canon mark II

Dude, d70's are easy to use. And take great pictures.
But just to start out, if you dont wanna spend like 300-500 finding a used slr or a "budget" slr. Go for the canon powershot a***
There amazing for 120 bucks. My friend has one. And it puts his fuji pinepix s700 in the case.
Right now, im looking for cameras.
And d70,d50,xt,300d,20d,10d,
Are on my list.
Send me a message if you might sell yours.
(sorry for posting that in this thread)
:)

The Nikon D40 is a great starter camera, as is the Sony A200. They both take great pictures. I own a Sony A200, and my close friend owns a Nikon D40. The D40 has a smaller amount of megapixels, but it shouldn't be a problem unless you plan on making posters. Many people argue that the D40 produces slightly better quality photos (I don't notice a difference). The D40 is fairly slower, and doesn't have noise reduction, so your photos may be a bit grainy at larger formats.

Bottom line: A Nikon D40 or Sony A200 will do wonders for a beginner in Digital SLR photography.
