no, a slave flash. bulb would make it overexposed, even in the night if he was going any higher than 30 seconds. i thnik

if it was taken with a slave on the flashgun, he's cameras pop-up flash would of had to fire wich it did'nt..

high dynamic range.
its 3 photos at different aperatures put together to cover the dynamic range.
the photomatric is coz im using a trial version to put the pics together

oh and the horizon in your pic is not straight..make sure you get it straight when taking that kind of picture.

yeah i know its not the best picture ever, getting the horizon straight would be kinda hard considering i took this with a crappy point and shoot from a moving boat. ill get some better pics up soon
