alright so iv been trying to switch from threaded to thread less. i recently got my forks and lucky HIC bars. when i went to install them i figured that i be fine with a stock headset. apparently i was wrong (according to my friend). the bottom cup always rams up against the top of the forks when put pressure and i can hardly turn. so im pretty sure that it is the stock headset. could some one clear this up with me before i buy a new one! is it the headset, and what is the difference? i really dont get it

^ if he doesnt even know what a threadless headset is, i doubt he's good enough to need a king.

Ok, buy a threadless headset from your local bikeshop then come back to this thread.

1. knock out the old headset cups
2. beat the new ones in
3. beat the starnut into your fork
4. beat the crownrace onto your fork at the base of the forktube
5. put the headset bearings on the crownrace and put the fork into the headtube
6. put the headset bearings in the top cup and slide the pinch ring onto the forktube
7. put the shim around the forktube and the topcap ontop of the shim
8. put the bolt into the top of the topcap and thread it into the starnut, make sure it's tight
9. put your bars over the shim with your clamp and tighten all of it up
10. KILL YO SELF, SEARCH

Refer to this shitty diagram on how it should be.
