i just installed my new cane creek headset and when i screwed the big nut back on it seemed to tighten the headset and not let it spin freely...is it ok to completly take off that nut and just screw the handle bar tube back on and then just tighten the clamp....?

if you dont have a pinch ring it could be the problem

Dont triple post. A pinch ring is a thing that look has a little split in the ring.
