Has anybody taken a look around SR recently, particularly in general discussion? The threads are getting absolutely fucking ridiculous lately, everywhere I look there's something about how to get sponsored by razor, or what wheels are the best, or how to give yourself a stranger when your parents are in the room, it's fucking pissing me off, and apparently locking/deleting threads or taking the Steven T approach isn't getting to anyones' heads anymore, so I don't know what the fuck to do anymore. We really need to implement some sort of system that makes sure that just about any sack of chode that comes on SR and posts stupid shit without thinking or searching because they need their questions to be answered RIGHT NOW, and everybody has to bust their ass for them to get the answer to some question that takes about 0.000005% brain power to solve in the first place, can't do that whenever and wherever the fuck they want. I really think that for new users there should be an incubation period (I know this might deter some new users, but fuck that, they can get over it or get fucked), where new users have to lurk for a few days, and are FORCED to know and read the rules instead of checking off a box and pressing "accept". I also think, that now we are on the subject of a new layout, that certain things should be changed, namely, as Sam and a few other brought up, greater accessibility of the search function (ie. make the search bar more noticeable for starters, and if possible, lift some of the annoying search restrictions that make finding anything on here a 1st class pain in the ass), and I also think that larger font, as well as bold formatting should be applied to all stickied thread titles so that there is NO WAY for anybody to overlook them when they browse through a section in the forum. So yeah.. that is my 2 cents pretty much..

I hear you Dre. It was just bad timing, that new guy Rp something. Is new, and seems to think that he will get respect or something by posting lots of new threads or something. Some of your ideas would be nice, but like i said just bad timing. Ill hang around in General Discussion for the next day or two, and see if its getting really ridiculous.

Dub post. One thing that id like to see more Mods/Admins doing is using the PM feature now that we got it back.

If someone is doing something wrong, breaking a rule or something Dont just lock his/her thread and leave it at that. Try sending them a Private Message letting them know why, and what they gotta do or start doing if they want to continue to use the Forum.

Definately will start using the PM system.
I just wrote up a template, will this do?

I see you're fairly new here.
We have a list of forum rules that you should read over before you start posting threads and things.
You can find them here : http://scooterresource.com/page.php?1

*Insert personalised information here about rule-breaking*

Enjoy your time on SR,
Regards,
Aaron.

Of course i'll annotate it if they're not new or other, but that will be the stock standard.
Maybe everyone should adopt a template?

Thats awesome Aaron. I kinda got my own way of saying things. But to each his own..thats still a really good idea.

Thanks.
I'm all about ease really.
If i have to send 10 of the things in one night, i don't wanna type out multiple 200 word strings of writing telling someone to straighten up on a scooter website.
A quick copy + paste and personalise will do the trick.

I completely agree, I used to fish through every single new thread and post around here back in the day, but nowadays about 60% of the info on this site is useless shit, I barely know anyone that posts regularly, and I pretty much just spend my time deleting threads rather than reading and putting my own opinion into anything. I love the idea of an incubation period for new users, that will give them time to read about things.

I've already been PM'ing kids when they just join and start hella new threads or are bumping old threads. Sometimes though it's just that they really are that dumb, they're not trying to be annoying.

I own SR.
I'm pretty against locking threads. If it is that pointless just delete it. Keeps things uncluttered and puts more focus on the good topics that are open.

I would say PM the person and get rid of the dumb threads.

I usually tell the kid what's up in his thread, lock it, then delete it like a day later. Otherwise kids complain about why their thread got deleted blah blah blah.
