On your own?

I realize most of you guys are 12-16 but i know there are some of you out there around my age so i was just wondering how many of you have moved out of your parents house and live on your own? What was it like, was it anything like you expected?

im about to be 20 and i have an opprutunity to go back to community college in the fall. Or i can keep working for my dad and get a raise and move out to Pacific Beach and party.

any suggestions on what you would do in my shoes or just discuss what it's like to be on your own.

I heard its crazy like paying for literally every thing and you realize what everying is and how much your parents did for you

thats exactly what im thinking! like i know you obviously pay rent and utillities, but then there is also food, cleaning supplies, furniture, keep-up, and what not

You also gotta think, some of these things are one time charges or just every month charges, if you go to the cheap places(i know you americans have places with bomb deals on good shit) you'd probably be fine.

ied go working for your dad dude, dont you make some good ass money? if you have a gauranteed good paying job that can keep you on your feet, just grab some roomates, get a crib, and just live life as it goes

You have to consider how much money you can make in a semester and compare that to what you'll get from college. Then decide if college is right for you.

I can move out in October if I want, but I know I'm nowhere near ready for it. I go to vokie for Carpentry so by the end of my senior year I could be making $25/hr working 40 hours a week while still attending school(sharetime, my union work would count as school work). In my case, college is a waste of time because one semester is 15 weeks. In that 15 weeks, making even 20/hr for 40 hrs a week I'd lose out on over $12,000. That's just general numbers. You get a lotttt of hours working in a Union and sundays are always overtime so that's even more money.

If you don't have anything ready, then College is your best bet. But if you have a solid job, I'd stick with that.. As the years go by, College is becoming less popular.

I have an apartment with one of my friends. I lived at a college resisense since August though if you count that too. The only big concern is getting bills paid on time. Furniture is a one time charge so it isn't that bad

Give college a try, you only get one good opportunity for it and you'll have the rest of your life to be "moved out."

well i only make 1,200 a month right now but if i didn't go back i would get a fat raise because i would just start to learn how to run the business.

ill always have the job to come back to, the only thing i don't like about school is that i wont be working and therefore will have absoltley no money to do anything.

ive tried working part time and taking classes also but it was just too much for me so it's either one or the other. i was thinking since i have the opprutunity i might as well take it.

I am leaving for college this August.
I would go to college, man. No harm especially if you could go back to working for your dad as a back up.

My first year at college has been the best year of my life, because I went in with an open mind and made a point to meet people. It could be fun, it could not be fun. But you won't know until you experience it. If you go through a year and truly feel you don't like it then drop out and do something else!

Turned 18 in March, found out on my Birthday that my mom is leaving me in Oregon and going to live with her boyfriend that moved to Montana a couple weeks ago for work. I'm gonna be all on my own considering I don't really have much of a family anymore where I live. I get money from when my dad passed away but its still gonna be pretty tough jumpin right into livin on my own. Probably gonna have a couple friends live with me and start livin life up!

honestly, live with your parents and save your money for as long as you can. Schooling is important especially nowadays. Just go to school and get a degree and then move out either when you get kicked out or are confortable with how your life is going.
