I find it kind of inconvenient that I need to develop the film before scanning though

Just take it to shop or something Its not that expensive.

I'm thinking I could get a disposable camera and then scan the negatives.

You'd still need to develop the roll..

If I'm in a crunch to get a roll developed and I don't have enough time to develop it myself, I take it to my place. It's $6 to develop a 36 exposure bw roll

I will find out if my local chemist still develops film because in the past it did.
