Tips? I can get into them, but I cant slide far, it either falls back into a smith or I get too afraid to push to far down. Any tips to make em a bit easier?

It helps if you do a couple of Bs smiths first, then lean a little more forward each time until you find the balance point.

make sure you are doing it on your natural side. either bs or fs. most people do it fs, but you might find them easier bs. i naturally do them bs.
going faster is scary, but it helps. i usually put my feet together pretty close to the headtube, and just lean forward like im doing a nose manual.

Well for accuracy you practice smith grinds. For the balance, they are pretty much like a nose manual except a lot more muscle is involved, at least that's how they feel to me. I feel like I push a lot more with my arms when I do overcrooks versus nose manuals.
Also, I think going really slowly helps you find your balance point quicker. Once you can balance them well then you can start to pick up the speed.

Speed when learning, and then go slower and slower, I learned on a box and now I can do them on rails etc
