My best friend just got one and wants me to film him with it. He gave me a $1,500 to spend on equipment. I was thinking about getting a high end Ghiottos(sp?) ball socket tripod, a shotgun mic, and maybe some lights. Please give me suggestions.

PS: The camera uses P2 cards which he already bought, so yea.

Yeah shoulder mount for skateboard filming would be so dumb unless your shooting vert or something.

I'd go for a fisheye if you don't have one already
Make a track dolly
Mic
Get the tripod liquid head

have you ever used a zacuto shoulder mount
yea, I have. And guess what? They dont do shit for skating, and your just talking out of your ass. Why the fuck would you suggest something like that? Maybe if it was for making short films, or docs, or even a little bit long distance shit but for skating? So please, explain.

Yeah, I'm going to get the 16x9 fisheye. I defiantly do not have the money to get the Xtreme fish. I will be purchasing an external mic and making a track dolly. And what is a liquid tripod head? Is it similar to a ball socket head?

Nah, not ballpoint. Fluid head tripods are like soooo smooth.

I'd go for the Opteka lens over the 16:9. Its just as wide as a mk2 for dvx. Fluid head tripod, has some kind of grease or something in them, makes them superrrr smooth. All the tripods i use at school are fluid head and they feel so nice.

Aight forsure. The biggest Opteka fisheye I found was a 72mm which means I would have to find a step down ring from 82mm to 72mm. I guess I will try it out since I will be saving close to $400 if I get the Opteka instead of the 16x9 fisheye.

I have some good grease that I pretty much use for everything that needs lubrication which I probably could use on a fluid head. Do you know any specific brands I should look at? I don't want to make a big mistake of wasting a few hundred bucks on a shitty tripod on ebay.

Oh fuck, no go for the 16x9 i forgot the threads on the HVX were bigger, it will have alot of vignetting, not worth it.
