Omg YES this happens to me whenever I drive somewhere

Make bar extenders and pegs. If you've ever seen the old mgp nitro barends, make the bar extender 1" like that. So it adds 2 inches overall to the width. You could maybe have different sizes? And pegs, maybe CNC a 5/16ths hole in one side, so that if you put the axle in, you only need 1 wrench or 1 allen key to tighten. If you know what I mean?

What if the slit is larger in gap, but shorter in length. Then make sure the clamp clears the length of the slit by a decent margin, an inch or so.

OR

HICSCS - An HIC shim is used to compress. Then sort of an SCS clamp with an ID to go over the shim... Then throw the non-slitted oversized bars in.
