People with fisheyes.... Read!

If you own a fisheye. Get over it. Fisheye shots are getting really boring and bland. Sure it makes things look interesting. But the novelty wears off.. Fast. Go learn to shoot some artsy longlens shots!

I'm gonna edit this later with some examples.

people can do whatever they like,

i film long lens more then fish but all long lens shots can get just as boring as all fish, and some things look way better fish like lines for 1, as some things always look better long lens

not everyone wants slow mellow music with artsy shots the whole video

what john said.

fisheye is overrused, but it's not always possible to get a good looking long lens shot. theres a happy medium between the two that not many people can find.

(see the last tpc video journal for an example of the right way to film)

yes. the tpc video is what really inspired me to do longlens. It helped me get over the whole "omgomgomgomgfisheyeomomgomg" thing. haha

i know your all talking about video but this is my experience with pictures
alot of people like the effect because its different and not many mainstream photographers have ever touched a fisheye with as much distortion as mine
the thing i dont like about fisheye is you cant get a depth of field at all everything is always in focus most of the time unless your glass is like touching the thing your taking a picture of haha
i never really liked the traditional fisheye on the ground or as low as it can go and then just point up i dunno to make a fisheye shot look cool it helps if theres stuff in the shot that can be distorted easy so it adds to the overall effect
i honestly dont use my fisheye that much anymore i mainly use my 50mm because you can get such a good focus on just one thing
i also hate when in videos people have like kenkos that are un modded and its just like.....a wide angle and they never take it off!!
or where the vig is so like un even or just wayyyy too much

Modding a kenko? What are you gonna do to mod it, flip the glass in the middle? Kenkos have almost the same amount of distortion as a baby death, they just aren't as wide.

Vig most of the time doesn't show up on a TV... where your supposed to watch your video. But yeah some peoples vig is ridiculous and they need to zoom that shit, because it will show up on a tv.

Oh and if you zoom with a fisheye on you deserve to die. Its on there to make the shot wider, why would you tighten up.

If you unscrew the macro and put it on the cam you get mad vig... i could imagine the vig being hideous if you smashed the glass out instead...

Yeah but you can just unscrew the macro, have less vig, and not destroy part of the fisheye. Kenkos with the macro look fine though, same distortion as a baby but not as wide.
