Plastic Brakes?

Today I was checking out Addict scooters and noticed the colorful brakes. It looked like they were made out of plastic and screwed into the deck like a flexy brake. Anyone know any info about it?
Also, would a plastic brake work? Or would it just bend and break easier?? Any one ever tried/thought of making one?

Only problem I see with plastic is the heat melting it from braking. If it has a very high melting point, like a nice nylon or something, then it probably will work. The brake wearing down doesn't seem like a huge problem because plastic pegs don't wear down too fast, and braking has less stress that smashing your body weight onto a solid concrete or steel rail.

Yeah I was thinking about that. Although they are probably much cheaper and can be easily replaced. I also just checked the Brake Super Thread up above.... The brake is plastic.

The brake is plastic and it was the first thing I believe they changed. Im pretty sure they're in the works of a different one. Cuz the plastic just melted

I made one it was looked perfect then
i went down a hill the plastic grip's to the wheel and flat spoted it even just on flat you get flat spot's and it did't work

Plastic is more elastic than metal (generally) so it's more likely to bend back than metal. If a good thermoplastic is used I could see it being an effective break, but melting is a concern.
