PLEASE help. ANOTHER scs question/crisis.

I was tightening my scs and one of the bolt's head snapped off of the bolt. The rest of the bolt is inside the clamp and i have no idea how to get it out. PLEASE help me, I do not have enough money to get a new scs and if i did, it would be stupid to spend another $65 just because a little bolt snapped.

thanks.

There is a product made to extract broken screws/bolts called an "Easy Out" Harbor Freight sells a full kit for under $10 that includes drill bits and the easy out tools in a bunch of different sizes. I have one and it has saved my ass a few times when i thought i had ruined a part.

this is honestly going to be your best option, because if you just drill it out with a regular bit, then you will risk damaging the threads on the scs.

just stick a needle nose plier in the crack in the scs and turn it untill it comes out. thatss what i did on mine.

even if there's a little part of the bolt sticking out of the clamp on the other side, you can use a hacksaw to saw in a stripe, and screw it out with a flathead screwdriver.

Or you can tac weld another bolt on top of the old bolt to pull it out from the other side.

well thanks for the help guys. I ended up drilling it out with a really small drill bit.

Is there stronger heardware available for bmx stems/scs? I would like to prevent this from happening again.

idk
but if you dont want to wait for a botl from the sr store you can get grade 8 steel bolts for scs and clamps at lowes. they are the m5x30 bolts or something like that. thats what i use in all my clamps. There like 2 bucks for 4 of em.

Invest in a bottle of anti-seize and put it on all your threads and heads of your bolts to keep them from freezing and breaking.

i agree. that jump in his avatar is huge. and the bar to bar makes it even better. and yeah just go to lowes or home depot for the bolts
