I know there are already threads on headsets blah blah blah, but I recently found out the best way to run a stock headset with is running great for me so if you have problems, read this and follow it and your problems will disspaer, unless you really screw up your headset.

1. Take your bars off and the two big nuts (no homo) of your fork.
2. Take off your headtube and take the two ball bearings (circular bearings) from under your fork and above and clean them off with saop and water till nothing is on them.
3. Now soak them in gasoline for about 20 minutes (removes any other residue)
4. Wipe off fork, inside of headtube and the inside of the big nuts (no homo)
5. Put back on the ball bearings on the bottom of the fork and lubricate heavily with 3-in-1 lubricant and put on headtube
6. Now put in ball bearings into the top cup and lubricate heavily again.
7.Now take Loctite (or any other thread sealer) and apply with a Q-Tip onto the fork threads and screw on the dust cover. MAke sure to adjust this so that it keeps the fork from moving but it doesn't make it so stiff it won't spin.
8. Now repeat previous step with upper nut. Again, make sure that there is NO WIGGLE, but it will still spin.
9. Let Loctite dry for 30 minutes, wipe of any residue, put back on bars and your ready to go.

No stupid comments. I did this because I had a problem with my headset and I don't want any more threads on this.

1. Take your bars off and the two big nuts (no homo) of your fork.
2. Take off your headtube and take the two ball bearings (circular bearings) from under your fork and above and clean them off with A paper towel dipped in Methylated spirits till nothing is on them.
3. Now soak them in Methylated spirits for about 20 minutes AND also shake them around in a jar (removes any other residue)
4. Wipe off fork with a paper towel dipped in Methylated Spirits , inside of headtube and the inside of the big nuts (no homo)
5. Put back on the ball bearings on the bottom of the fork and lubricate and remember 'little is more' with 3-in-1 lubricant or if you have the money high quality bearing grease great for the long run and put back into headtube
6. Now put in ball bearings into the top cup and Lubricate again If needed.
7.Now take Loctite (or any other thread sealer) and apply with a Q-Tip onto the fork threads and screw on the dust cover. MAke sure to adjust this so that it keeps the fork from moving but it doesn't make it so stiff it won't spin.

Paint thinner also works good

Fixed!
(I've been doing the same thing for about the last 5 years so I know what I'm talking about)

thank you chris for that and this thread is also an explnation on how to fix your headset so that there is no wiggle whatsoever but it still spins decently. i know that a lot of people run stock headsets so this could be helpful to a lot of people.

How about using 2 spanners/shifters and tighten the the top and bottom towards each other forcing then to lock into each other?
Thats what there meant for!
You can also use plumbers tape instead of loctite suff, its not even 50 cents for a 5 metre roll
