THE VANS SKATEPARK AT THE BLOCK AT ORANGE GETS FACELIFT
AS PARK HEADS INTO TENTH YEAR

Brand New Street Course Layout and 80-Foot Mini Ramp Part of Renovation to the Vans Skatepark in Orange, CA

Cypress, CA (April 3, 2008) – After almost 10 great years at The Block at Orange, the Vans Skatepark is getting a much-needed facelift to nearly every inch of skateable park terrain. The remodel, which will begin April 7th, includes an entirely new, plaza-inspired layout that will meet the demands of today’s ever-progressing street skater. Exciting additions to the new street course include a massive 80-foot mini ramp, as well as a large viewing area for the public, both of which will be constructed out of the current Vert ramp structure. This new layout will open up an additional 3,000 square feet the the street course area and create opportunities for Vans to host special events and varied skate contests in addition to the Pro-tec Pool Party.

“With our park’s 10-year anniversary approaching, we are looking forward to being able to freshen up the course,” said Vans Retail Event Marketing Manager Carrie Phillips. “We’ve been hearing from a number of skaters that it was time to introduce new features and we’re aiming to deliver. We think most everyone will be really excited about the new layout.”

The new course will be built by Team Pain Skate Parks, the highly-respected and skater-owned company out of Florida that specializes in custom skate parks and structures.

The new park will be completed in time for the 4th annual Pro-tec Pool Party which will be held May 17th at the park’s famed replica Combi Bowl.

The Vans Skatepark will remain open throughout the remodel. The reconstruction will be rolled out in phases throughout the next month with various sections slated to remain open to the public. Vans encourages those interested in skating to call the park ahead of time for updated information on course section closures.
