D40s are poor.

not at all true, stop being an elitist, you've got no reason to be.

it just depends what you want. do you want to film a mini video or take pictures of other people? thats what you really need to be thinking about

d40 is the best dslr you can get for $500 and even cheaper now.

but like sean said, its all about what youd rather be doing.

i see what sean meant, but idk if it goes with the real def. in other words, it means you think you
deserve better because you're superior to other people.

d40 x is better than d40
no its not

even though they are basically the same, its hard to compare them. sure the d40x has more pixels but its flash sync is only 1/200 whereas the d40 is 1/500. the d40x can go down to iso 100 where the d40 can only go to 200. there are some other downfalls to the d40x that i cant remember.

i like my d40, a few extra megapixels makes no difference to me, i never print anything larger than 8x10. sure id rather use iso 100 instead of 200 but i dont mind as much as i would hate having a flash sync of only 1/200.

you dont even really have to worry about iso with nikon though haha they get suuuch nice noise levels even at iso 800 you can barely see it. the one thing i hate about canons

and if you get a high quality flash, flash sync doesnt even really matter as long as there is a high speed flash sync feature on the flash your getting. i know nothing about nikon flashes but i know on my speedlites there is an option. and even if you dont 1/200th of a sec with flash is plenty for freezing action, i sometimes even have to shoot lower than that cause of my cactuses

id get a picture camera so the d40
