you think a picture gives the real thing justice?
the proto deck seems to be a flop. its more expensive than previously anticipated, its breaking faster than expected...

i dont get it but aside from bars and scs everything proto makes needs to be ignored for the first batch and bought on the second batch.

when you have a warranty like protos, threads like this shouldnt even happen, they should just get the email from whoever broke the part with pics, reveiw it, and if necessary send the new part out, proto needs to step there game up.

1) The deck is slightly cracked, NOT BROKEN
2) Chill out
3) Honestly, people ride that deck 100x harder than you do and are having no issues, So I, and most other people, are going to blame this on user error

I don't see any way in which putting a brake on incorrectly would result in a cracked deck. I'm sorry but that just doesn't happen.

Also, "remember kids, don't put your brake on wrong or you're gonna ruin your deck" isn't doing the reputation of this deck much good. If I was Proto I'd cater to this kid and write it off as a faulty deck just as damage control, because I know that I'm not the only one who's strayed away from even the possibility of buying an Orion due to how shady Proto has been about handling cracked decks thus far. Once again, I have nothing but love for Proto, I'm just being completely honest.

well i just don't think it would be right to give him an entire new deck just because of that little crack that doesn't matter. giving him the ubs or whatever is fair

If you paid 250 dollars for a deck and it cracked in 3 weeks, I guarantee you'd want a new deck. Especially because it's supposed to be under warranty. One of the selling points of the Orion is that you are supposed to be able to replace the deck itself fairly cheaply, since it is extruded and most of the initial price is for the headtube, which is expensive because it's CNC'd and has a lifetime warranty. They could just send him a replacement deck with no headtube or brake and everyone would be happy.

Once UBS comes out i might buy it. I loved how Elmer's felt so I can only imagine how a 4 wide low angle would feel.
But that flexy is fugly. nty

The Proto flex brake is way too stiff. It putts too much pressure on the brake mount area causing it to have too much strain. I replaced my Proto brake with the TSI aluminum brake that I've been running for over a year with no problems.

I made a homemade break and it is fine. The proto Cutout eats wheels.

It didn't eat my wheel, it was just really sensitive, making it almost impossible to manual and control it with the brake. But yeah, homemade or TSI flexies are the way to go. Unless there's other options (Magray?).

Make a homemade one and i can guarentee you its going to be stronger and wont crack like that because the bolts on the bottom are pulling up too as well as down, but on the proto brake it just pulls down because the bolts are welded on so you just tighten it from the top, which not only causes it to strip extremely easy but the brake itself is just plain shit.
