Loosen the bolts then stick a flathead in the slit and turn it. That should pry it apart enough to move it.

If you've done all of the above, try putting a flathead under the SCS and hitting the handle with a hammer.
I had to do that with mine the first couple times

Sounds like you need something a little stronger to pry it. Anything you can use as a wedge to open the slit up a little without damaging the finish will work. Of if you don't care of it gets a little scraped up just use a stone chisel. I can guarantee that would get it pried far enough apart to remove it.

I had the same problem but its easy to solve.

Use a flat head screw driver and put it between the two sides of the SCS
(The back, where the bolts are) and pull apart. Then lift up at the same time.
It should be only a 5 min process. It also easier with two people. Good luck!!

this doesn't have to do with this problem but i am wondering when using an scs is it like better to have no slit in your bars?

It's REQUIRED you have no slits in your bars, or if you have slits, you should use a broken forktube in the slit.
