I got brand new Proto grippers a week ago, And My bearings shook back and forth. So, i invested in new bearings, i installed them. Did a drop test and it was nice and dialed. Did a double whip flat. And the bearings shake back and foth again. And my scooter sounds like shit. If i take my wheels out of my scooter and shake them, the bearing spacer moves around. I tried the bearing spacers that came with my wheels, and the ones that came with my bearings and they both move.
What can i do??

CJ, that's not the point. Wheels shouldn't ovalise in a week.

And Dirt Clod, I would, But i see them just being useless too.

there not ovalized at all. the bearing slots on proto wheels are just a little wider than other wheels. this is because in the first batch, there was a lot of bitching about how hard it was to get bearings in. you dont need to buy bearing spacers and shit. all you gotta do is put a little electric tape on the outside. they will be fine and the wheels dont suck.

i dont see how the tape would work, i mean when you put the bearing in wouldnt it smash the tape?

ive had 2 pairs of protos that have blasted past 6 months each without a single problem. you must have just had a bad batch. but i have phoenixes nao so yah

edit, just read the rest. umm, tape wouldnt do anything if im mistaken, but one trick would be, take the standard spacer, put it on a axle, and hit it with a hammer evenly to push out the metal to make it wider. or go and buy some tubing with 8mm ID and cut more urself i guess

well i do have to say, when my friend bought his spoked grippers, which were the first ever batch, his bearing slots were just loose enough, and now his wheels always sound like a noisy shopping cart wheel. and we cant fix it

Well make it so your spacer doesnt move without pushing it my sliders and dialed as fuck on my scooter so i think you need a bigger spacer and either sand it down or scrap it across the concrete to get it just right.

Bump, my bearings came with these tiny little washers, called 'Speed rings" you think if i put those between my bearing/spacer that might work?
