Honestly, I have never done LSD because I am on an SSRI and combining the two could result in Serotonin Syndrome. But, I have read extensivley on the pharmacology, effects, etc of LSD.
1. You are going to want to find it from a RELIABLE source. As most "acid" nowadays is not LSD, rather some obscure research chemical.
2. Do not have shit to do for at least 12 hours.
3. Start with one hit. You can always take more, you can never take less.
4. It takes about an hour to kick it, so don't take another hit after 20 minutes because you're not feeling anything.
5. Possibly have a sober or very experienced (With LSD) sitter. And I assume you know what a sitter is because you have done shrooms before.
Last but not least, read up on Erowid. Any other questions just ask me, or Google... probably Google. Good luck, happy tripping!
EDIT: After posting this response, I realized I kind of jumped your question. "Handling yourself" on LSD is different for everyone. But I have read experiences and known people who have went to school or work while tripping on small doses of LSD and have been fine. LSD is mostly all in your head, as opposed to shrooms where you may experience nausea. One of the only physical symptoms of LSD is dilated pupils. Which may be hard to hide if you are around sober people. But I highly suggest researching and not just listen to me.
Also, if you are planning on tripping more than once, I would buy more than one blotter as buying a sheet or so is substantially cheaper than buying it by the hit.
