quickly harden urathane wheels

First off I searched, nothing. I has become a wide accepted fact that a good trick to hardening urethane wheels is to ride them in front then back. This is quoted from the wheel review thread about drive wheels:

The longer you ride your wheels the harder the Urethayne will get so the trick to riding Drive wheels in the back is wearing them in as a front wheel until they harden then switching them to the back. If you do not do this you risk ruining brand new wheels. This trick goes for most other wheels as well.

i suspect the mechanism behind this is in the heating and cooling of the urethane. From a chemistry stand point, when heated, the urethane's molecules separate and when cooled they condense to a more stable state.

If this is true, wouldn't also work if new wheels were submerged in boiling water for 10-20 sec and taken out and let to cool? This process could be repeated numerous times.

i am going to do an experiment this summer to test some of the theories about this. will post full lab report when im done.

It's not just the coolant bub.
it's also the riding it. the heating expands the molecules, but at the same time it's being compressed as you ride, which makes it harder when it cools.

not with low pros haha, my fucking low slow compressed out to the sides when I was riding it, so pretty much it was like getting a flat tire on a car and it was sooooooooo slow holy shit and felt like a flat spot. I suspect if there was some way to make low gays harder and less gay in general then they might be half decent..

I don't feel like looking up the page to see who said it, but about the wheels compressing then cooling, that makes a lot of sense.

try putting hot glue all over the wheel then quickly putting in into a container of dry ice then after about a day take off the hot glue and ur wheels should be unweardownable

actually i remember him saying that too but it was meant to be a joke. he said something like "if you have low pros just bury them in the dirt" as in just get rid of them cuz theyre not great

all your ideas are soooooooooooo funny

If you put your wheels in the Freezer you stop them getting old, so after a long time in the freezer they are the same ...
If you heat wheels you just kill them; Just try if you want....

If you want to change the hardness try some chemical stuff...

have fun

freezing does work.

But i reckon if you can get the water to boiling point and dunk it in for 10 seconds then stick it into the freezer, it might work.

I'll try with a blade wheel ;)
