i heard that it doesn't run without all the other accessories, so once you spend 17,500 USD on the camera, you have to turn around and spend another 1,250 USD on batteries, viewfinders, lenses, etc...
wow. the viewfinder is 3,000 USD, and the lcd monitor is about 1,000. the arm to attach it to the camera is 125....
so rediculous

that cam is so insane and its the price you pay if you want the best....though once you have the cam and edit your video, theres no monitor or tv out there that can play it full quality.

It's actually relatively cheap for the features. The whole point of this camera was to replace film, and it does a good job. It is the first digital camcorder that can produce an image as large as 35mm film. The cost of 35mm film is sooo expensive that the price you pay for this is nothing near the cost of film you'd use for a whole production. This is the future.

Not true. It's called movie theaters. Most directors will print the final product to film, just because that is how movie theaters play movies. Then they'll downsize to SD, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p to put on dvd/blu-ray/hd-dvd.

ah you got me, but yea. if i bought a camera that good i wouldnt want to go to a movie theater to watch my shit in full quality.

but then again, if i had enough money to buy that cam id just pay someone to make me an ultra-HD tv

I own SR.
I saw that camera like 6 months ago. Two of my friends work at a TV show doing editing so they are up on all that new technology as soon as it comes out.

It is definitely pretty insane though.
