Ride before you buy?

Well the next step in this Scooter endeavor may be happening for me as I am considering opening up a Shop in LA proper since there isn't one and well, as we know, skate shops don't seem to want any Scoot stuff in their stores.


SZ is about 40 miles
Vert is about 26 miles

So my question is: would anyone like a program where you would "rent" a scooter to ride before purchasing? Rental price would go towards purchase.


Have one of each so you could get the feel of one before dropping $250 Plus

( I already own/operate a rental company for Photography equipment so don't worry about that and what is involved in rental risks)

that would be pretty cool but what happens if they wear the parts down and then dont want to buy the scooter?

The rental scoots are not for sale so the wear and tear is just part of the program
You would get a new one if you decide to buy

hmm but lets say they want one that is all custom, how would they rent that? But if you are talking blunt completes, razors, mgps, etc, I get what you mean. It wouldnt be that bad of an idea.

Hmm, its a good idea ,but what if they broke the rental scooter the first time you rented it out and that happened every time you rented out a scooter?? you'd get through 10 scooters a week...
Maybe what you could do is have a area of flat concrete out side near the shop and let customers test ride the scooters there to see if they like it or not.

Yeah, thinking Completes would give you a pretty good idea of the different brands.

Maybe just a park day where I bring a couple scooters. If they break, they break. It's not as if the entire thing breaks and I'm out a whole scooter.

I would highly recommend NOT doing this. If a buyer decides they don't want to purchase the products they rented, then you're stuck with ridden parts. Grinded decks, worn down (and possibly flat spotted) wheels, and scratched paint on anything is definitely going to make people want to purchase from other places.

this would be an ok idea but make em pay like a insurance thing so if they mess it up to bad then they have to pay to replace

He'd have scooters that are ONLY for renting. If they liked the rental theyd buy a new one from the shop.

I think its a good idea so long as you set how long the scooter can be rented. Like, a day.

Scooterings not ready for stuff like this yet. Some bike shops don't even let you ride the bikes before you buy them. At most, shops could have a display only model that people could ride around a little bit that isn't for sale.

yeah i think having a couple of demo completes could work, worth a trial run atleast, would probably work alot better if you had your own park. i can see someone renting and fucking off permanently.

Yeah, I've heard of this skate shop that actualy has a ramp in the shop, and people can skate around on it to try out the boards. (i think)
