Rust Problems on Lucky Pry Bars

I just ordered raw lucky pry bars and regret it somewhat much because I paid a lot for it, and i shouldve pitched in 10 bucks for powdercoat because i heard they rust very easily even with clear coat. So I was wondering should I get bar wrap, ask lucky to send me a powdercoated one if i pay 10 bucks and return this one never used or get it powdercoated at a bike shop or body shop? Or maybe even bar wrap I dont know cuz i dont want my deck to be raw and my bars to be brown :/

clear coat it a lot. a little rust looks good. lucky won't do what you were describing up there, though. you also could get it powdercoated yourself.

Yeah I think ill get them powdercoated, its possible to get powdercoat even after riding for months right?

all CHROMOLY bars rust when they come in contact with pure oxygen (in water) if your clear coat isn't thick enough/oxygen was underneath it when you clear coated it, that could explain it.

the clear coat won't feel weird. it'll feel like paint or something.

and yeah, if you get them professionally powdercoated then that's your best bet.

But can i get em powdercoated after riding for a few months? theyll clean it up before powdercoating with sandblasting most likely and will charge like 10-20 bucks yes?

yes. you don't even need to clean them up that thoroughly; just take them to your local shop and let them do it. it was $35 to powdercoat a pair of torn bars where i live. every shop will be different.

get any spray paint that will work well on chromoly and paint it yourself. do a few light coats and leave it to dry for a day and it wont rust at all. thats what i do to all my bars.
