Hey everyone
I have been riding TSI decks and Thomcat forks for years and recently got a new TSI Thomcat fork (a 125, made by request, already cut down to fit my SCS and my Threshold ). So I switched out my old fork and put my new one in and assembled the scooter as usual.
Deck: TSI Threshold
SCS: Urban Artt (2013 model, never had any issues, with long headtubes and spacers or cut and without spacers), also tried it with my brand new Tilt SCS.
Headset: Tried it with my trusted Tilt and TSI headsets.
Here is the problem:
I tightened the starnut bolt, and when I tried to spin the fork to see if it was tight enough, it was already very tight, but the SCS wouldn't spin with the fork. It would just sit there. I tried it really tight, loose and way too loose, and assembled the entire scooter just to see what would happen if I put the bars on, but they would either be totally fixed and rigid or would be like any other loose bar/fork combo and rattle.
I thought that maybe the thread in the starnut got stripped, hammered the starnut further down but teh problem would still be there. Then I hammered it out and put a new one in with my starnut tool. But even with the new starnut, I had the same problem.
I even added spacers, even though the tube was definitely short enough to end below the SCS lip.
Maybe I am too tired to figure out what is going on. Could it be that I stripped the threads in both starnuts?
Is the bolt bottoming out when trying to compress?
It's weird, I have never had an issue like this before. Thanks in advance for reading and offering suggestions!
