Skaters opinions on Scooters

You should tell that to the skaters here, they all think it's cool and respect it.

I just choose to not really think about it. I'm not gonna sit here an alienate myself by saying that riding a scooter is gay or whatever, that's just stupid. It's fun and shit and I see nothing worse about scooters than bikes or skateboards, or inline, it's only the mindset that people have, where everything is a big ass competition, that starts to put any sport above another. Take a scooter, bike, skateboard, and inline skates somewhere that nobody's ever seen them, and they aren't going to point out the scooter and say it's gay.

ya guys, its ok to not give a shit what others think but at least take pride in the sport and what you love to do.

I don't know how long it is going to take the scooter community to realize that they're right, riding a scooter IS fucking lame as ----- its not cool, at all, nor should anyone be expected to respect it.

I would say that it is respectable, but you can't make people respect it. The scootering community probably knows that scootering is lame in some aspects, but the fun that they have on scooters out weighs the "lameness" or gayness.

So much facepalm.

You can't make people respect anything. You can't make people respect your beliefs, your thoughts, or you as a person. That doesn't mean you should go around saying "Yeah, I know I'm ghey and lame, don't respect me. I'm fun though :D ". The more respect you have for yourself, the more you get from others.

The only people that honestly and truthfully respect scooter riders are those who can understand anyone with a sense of knowing what your doing at a skatepark. Little kids that are new to riding or have been for 1 or 2 years kind of feel the need to go as many times as they can and do not know what they may be doing 100% of the time (AKA snaking and etc.). I'm not trying to bash on the little kids that want to get into scootering, but I think that if you see a little kid at a skatepark that might be doing that, just let him or her know how to avoid it (I have done this multiple times). I think that once you hit a certain age, around 16, you begin to gain that knowledge and become mature enough to where skaters, bike riders, and anyone from the above, will show respect. Coming from someone who does that, I ride my local with a proffessional biker (Mike Fede) as well as multiple other bikers, and skaters also. All have told me the same thing about what I just said.
Reasoning for this post: Not to be Captain Obvious, but a basic reason all the skaters are saying what they are is because of the lack of skatepark etiquette among us riders. But no need to worry, everybody will be equals someday soon.

hmm, i think i may have another eeason that people think we are 'gay' or 'lame'. Its probaly because when scooters were first around, it was allways the little kids that rode them because they couldn't ride a bike. But scootering has come a long way since they wooden four wheeled things or whatever, and is now coming to be a thing which teenagers who seek a extreme sport of a different nature to skating/bmxing are cming to.

More over, too all the skaters that hate on us, skateboarding did come from scooters. Without the scooter skateboarding wouldn't exist. Just tell them that. ;)

I think you got it a little twisted around. Skateboarding has been around waaaaay longer than scooters have. It's just, like I had said above, is that the kids who snake at skateparks and have no type of skatepark etiquette are those who ruin it. & When they were all younger, they rode scooters and that was the thing of the past, & now that they see older guys riding it that it was a kiddie thing of the past you know?

But i have a skateboarding book, and it says that either(or both),surfers put rollerskate wheels on their surfboards, or/and scooterers broke off their scooters and rode around. But to be honest there are lots of ideas about how skateboards came around, so yeah.=/

Scooters have been around since the 1900's- they pre date the Skate Board

When they actually transitioned in to a Skate Board can't be nailed down exactly but the 1st one's appeared around 1950's

Not till Poly wheels did it really take off

the first production scooter was made in 1997 i think? people have been making then for ages though. my grandpa made a scooter when he was a kid. "it was really noising and it would annoy the hell out of the people he rode past" he said. my grandpa is 70 years old he made them when he was a kid so- according to my calculations, scooters were around in 1940 and even earlier. skaters came around in 1950. scooters are older than skateboards. lol stupid maths.

So, if some one made scooters long before they were in production, people probably made skateboards before they were in production. DURPPP

And also, they might not think it is gay if the people posting videos stopped posting stupid park videos with knee pads and posted a Mckeen video or something good.

True ----- Not once has someone said scootering is gay on a street rider's bio or vid, but the park flippity doo shit is gross... I even dislike those riders when I see them.

Ask the kids who come to my local and ask me to do a briflip, I am the biggest asshole in the world to them
