SOA And YAK Metal Core Review.

Mattt.C

I own WSP.
SOA:
Pro's:
- Cheaper than most metals
- Fast
Con's:
- Some (like proto's) were defective in the first batch, therefore dehubbing
- Urathane is extremely weak
- Bearing cups
- Very expensive compared to yak's which are better quality
- Little urathane

Yaks:
Pro's:
- Super Cheap
- Urathane is much stronger than SOA
- Fast
Con's
- Bearing cups
- Little urathane
- My bearing falls out of the cup

-------------------------------------------------------------
My test:
After 15mins of riding on a very ruff surface, with my YAK in the front and SOA in the back, too see which one held up better.

Results
The SOA which was in the back, shreds itself. The flaky stuff on the wheel is indeed the urathane rubbing off. It was worn down at least 5mm by the end. Most of the cracks were there before so only pay attention on the urathane rubbing/flaking off.

The YAK which was in the front held up much better than the SOA, had verturly no damage at all. It was hardly worn down at all.

To Make Clear
- The SOA wheel is from the FIRST batch.
- JoeRiley, yes it was broken in.
- I didnt swap the wheels around, because i wouldnt be able to tell if the damage was new or not.
- Joe.D, the review was more a test or the urathane, not the actuall wheel or it dehubbing.
- DONT pay attention to the cracks [most were there before] just the urathane rubbing off.
- My bearing falls out of the cup on my YAK.

was the SOA broken in?

and thats not a very fair test. a lot of people break more wheels in the back than the front. there are exceptions, though. just saying...

the SOA model is like 3 months old the yaks havnt even been released for 3 months yet

the black one was the blue 88A models we released yeah there fail we already know this ian, as for the orange models we have at the moment that PU is 100% the same as the models yak released, i think yak has the blue ones too just not selling them as only the orange PU seems to last

the blue PU also is no good for roads or rough surface, there more ramp pu, i found yeah the PU wears & cracks easy on rough roads compared to the new orange models we release, i sort wish i would hve got all orange not sum blue if i knew that the blue PU compond would suck

we arent making these wheels again we only made them in like nov last year when yak made theres also, we are relesing new model of wheels & we actualy are using a new manufcacture for the process

Has anyone broken a yak scat yet??? if so whats under the pu a flate smooth hub surface or 2 strips of metal inside the PU?

Just face it dude your wheels suck.

That review was stupid. Of couse the freackin yak held up better it was in the front. 99.9% of people brake their wheel's when theyre in the back.

LOL you dont read, my reply had FAIL written in it lol

as i said the new orange ones are the same PU as yaks, there made on the same machines, the first wheels we released yeah didnt work out due tthe manufacture we made with has quality issues to start

yak have heaps wheels them selfs from them which i havnt seen for sale yet, due he only will sell the orange ones which dont break as easy, he even states that last models have dehub issues we hope this model is fixed on his website

as i said we not making our 20mm metal cores again but other models & the quality will be fine you all will just have to wait & see
