Some country need administrative ...

Hello my name is BAB's,

i'm a french rider who ride since 2000 but with a bad level, lol, no this is not the subject. When I see american scooter videos, and more largely international videos, i see big skatepark, big contest ... So everything seems easy to have, easy to organise. But what you maybe don't know, in France this is not the same, most of indoor parks are anti-scooter (look that http://www.lehangar-skatepark.com , i live nearly but it's forbiden to enter with a scooter), we have to convice a lot of state authorities to organise a contest ... That's why i created the last month an association - Association FranÃ?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â? Ã¢â?¬â?¢Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Å¡Ã?â??Ã?§aise des Trotiriders / French scooter-riders association - which the aim is just to developpe kick scooter in France, cause we until just had some very good rider who can have a TV-report, not enought for me ...

More largely, we want to organized, firstly french championship, but after internationnal competitions. And a association has a good point: it is neutral whith the brand, so neutral in the competition, equal respect ...

So some questions:
- What do you think about an association project (which, i repeat, is for a first time just french) to developpe scooter ? Some french riders are rather cons cause they think we must let the time do the things, in my minds, we must take our destiny in hands and go before medias, brands ... control the image of scooter.
- What is laws in your country concerning xtrem sport organisation, contests ?
- Does exist some association or other organisation in your country ?

I appologize my bad english and i hope you'll answer at this thread. Thank you.

[EDIT] I write here cause i thought it was better to catch your eye, if administrator prefer i write in international part, please move my thread, thank you.

1. I think if you made a scooter taht would be awesome, even if it was only made available to French/European riders. It would probably be cheaper than Micros and that is good.

2. I dunno exactly what laws there are, but I'm pretty sure that if you want to have a comp it would be a good thing to check with city council

3. There is no real association for scooters in America yet, but there is SR (this site), and it really brings riders together in a small community.

Sounds like you French guys are doing some pretty cool things, glad to hear it.

events are just about as hard to organize over here too.

we get crap for scootering.

and we still are hardly even respected.

I own SR.

That's cause you're not buff.

Sounds like a good plan if you can put it into action. Let me know if you need any help.

Ive already brought up a World Scooter Association issue, as I thought that, for example, parks would be more likely to host competitions if they were 'official WSA events', haha.

We like chocolate and desert, but we have better than you here ! lol, do you know "Lindt Chocolate", when i came to New York, i was was very hardly to find it ! But this is not the subject ...

A world association: This is not my vocabulary but i think the same, public authorities always need responsable for all sport, they don't want to have any problem, that's why we are more credible if, near the practice, we have administrative part to look forward. I managed to have a french organisation, and i encourage you to make the same thing in our country. When it will be ok, we could work together to give a credibility for the scooter.

SR: SR is a real good thing, you manage to create a unity between all world riders, but this is just a means to communicate, we have the same in France (trotirider.fr), but we had no capacity facing authorities, and i think this is the same for SR.

Get more people to ride in your country: We are about 600 or 700 riders in France, but it increase all the week. Yes that's a good thing but our governement will continue to ignore us as long as we don't have official organisation.

Made a scooter: this is not our project, we let industrial make that. But we want to create a link between brands and riders to have best products possible. All I can say: a brand is born in france, and we follow their devloppment, we'll see later ...

Need help: Yes, sure, all events or things we could make in common are welcoming, exchange of information for example: if we have a contest, we could present here and we'll see for an exchange of image, or other things ... But now, we need some special help: We are creating a DVD for presenting scooter to authorities and park's director, and we want to show some good american rider. We think about Jesse and KC, who are particular know in France for their level and their style. So we need their last mini vids but in the best quality as possible, to make a quality DVD. Some french rider have a contact with Jesse and KC but i Think SR is a good means to ask them that. Someone can be contact them ? Thank you.

I think that's all, once again I appologise for my bad english, i work it hardly ...

Well, he brought the topic here so now Andrew you're doomed because he's probably like you, wanting the sport to improve a lot and everything.
A french company already started and they also plan to make scoots, organizing some contests and things, but they're not in a real hurry. People in paris don't buy micro scooters anymore so the business is going to catch up quickly i believe.
Anyways, a lot of riders here really don't care about assiociations and stuffs, so we ride improving the level and trying to make good videos instead of making an image of it. But Bab's sticks to his ideas anyways and i think he wants things to go further to quickly. But action is the way to go, but he didn't come to montreux so he couldn't see how developped scooter truly is in switzerland. Here is the show he was talking about ... http://6.upload.dailymotion.com/video/x1ryoo_tentation07

When you in the mainstream , then you're ok, but it's true that if you live far away from big scooter scenes and towns, then it's fucked up and you want to act. (but when you ride with other people, you really don't care .. meh)

Some french riders, like balth, are ok with me but we don't have the same means to suceed in the development of scooter. They just don't understand there is riders and brands, but also government, municipality ... which can ask about the scooter but don't have answer cause nobody really organise the practice ....

Next year, i will live in Paris, so big city, big scenes, like Balth said. that's cool but the other riders ??? in smaller town ??? Even in Paris, some parks are forbidden to scooter, some skater or other don't respect us, kids in scooter don't know how to ride in a park, and we just make the show during small bike or skate contest, that's all. Yes I want to go further !

I brought this topic cause I want to present the project, the idea, and say there are many ways to developpe scooter, but a dialogue between us and authorities is essencial ...
