Some questions on scootin'

Hey, I'm somewhat new to scootering compared to the people here. I've been scootering a lot through out my life, but I just started picking up a scooter and started tricks a month ago. So far I got a tailwhip, heelwhip and I've almost landed a dubwhip. I have some questions though:

1. Could anyone tell me some tricks in order or write out a list of tricks they learned in order because I'm having trouble with some tricks and most of the time I think I'm biting off more than I can chew, and yes I do practice a lot.
ex. I learned a tailwhip flat before a heelwhip flat and a heelwhip before a double off a ramp etc.

2. What is the difference between a briflip and a scooterflip I've looked at so many clips and either someone is mistaking a scooterflip for a briflip or they're just doing it wrong, I don't know.

3. How often do you guys spend on one trick/ do you practice a trick only doing that trick or doing that trick with a lot of kickers?

Thats all I have. Thank You for tolerating my proper grammar and spelling of words.

I own SR.
1. People learn different tricks in different orders, not everyone is the same but usually tailwhips, heelwhips, 360, double whips, barspins, x up and no footer are the standard beginner tricks in any given order.

2. When you do a scooter flip you let go with one hand and re grip the bars when they come around and when you do a bri flip you keep both hands on the bars the whole time and just tweak them out.

3. Some people land tricks their first try, others practice the same trick for months. It all depends. It is usually best to practice more than one trick at a time so you don't get burnt out doing the same thing a hundred times while you could be working on other things that might come more naturally.

Pretty good intellegent post, I'll give you my thoughts.

Having started a lil less than half a year ago I have learned somewhat in order:

Basics:
Basic Airs (Airs off Kickers or jumping over shit) - Spent about 30mins getting back into the hang of it.

Manuals - Spent about 40mins to an hour practicing manuals. But I'm always shooting to improve them, so I still practice them.

X-Ups - Easy trick to learn, prolly took 10-30mins to get good at, but It's mainly a combo trick (360 X-ups, X-up Fakie to Tailwhip out, ect.)

One-handers - Simple, spent a 3-4 days to get dialed consistantly.

No-Footers - An hour or two probably.

Tailwhips - Just because you can do them flatground doesnt mean you can do them anywhere, Tailwhip airs on QP's (Quarterpipes) and over graps will always be hard if the gap is big enough. I spent a good few hours practicing them to actually land them. Spent about 2-3 months practicing them over gaps, off ledges, down stuff ect. I'm currently practicing them on QP's.

180s - Probably spent about a day or two learning.

360's - Depends on what I'm doing it off, I learned flatground 360's in a few days. But bigger things like 360's over stairs are harder and I still can't land them every time without putting my foot down occasionally.

Fakies - Always shooting to improve Fakies, <3 Fakies. Good month or two to get down great.

Basic Stalls - Easy, probably took an hour to get down well.

Icepick Stalls - Again easy, practiced with basic stalls at the same time, took the same ammount of time.

Barspins - Took forever to get these down for me, probably 2-3 months. (Tip: I practiced these off small sidewalks helps to get a good ammount of speed, get a small hop going and flick your bars "lightly" and catch.)

Grinds:

Feeble Grind - Easiest grind to learn, probably took a day to land well.

Front-side Boardslide - Still learning to this day, probably spent about 1-2 months to get dialed.

50-50 Grind - Can only do on some scooters (Razor Pro model works kinda for this) Spent about 3-4 weeks to get dialed.

Smith Grind - Pain in the ass, still working on them, probably been about 3 months now. Helps to have good stuff to practice them on ><.

Combo Tricks:

One-Handed No-footer: Pretty basic, probably took 3 days to get down good.

X-Up No-Footer: Again pretty easy, A week tops.

Tailwhip-Fakies: A month probably.

Fakie-Tailwhip-outs: Easier than Tailwhip to Fakies because you don't have to worry about landing your feet just right when you land. Probably took a few weeks.

Manual Tailwhip-outs: Feels hard at first but I dialed them quickly, probably took a week or two. (Tip: If you have some extra cinder blocks laying around like I did, stack a few in a row (I practices these with 6 or 7 in a row) and practice on that, feels much safter imo.)

Advanced Tricks:

Backside Stalls - About a week.

Icepick Grinds - Pain in the ass, 1 month. Helps to have a back peg.

Double Tailwhip - Took a while to get down, about a month and a half after I got Tailwhips down. Spin that shit hard.

360-X-up's - Spent about a week to get down.

360-Tailwhips - Still working on them, been about a month.

Bri-Flips - Still in progress, getting a few here and there. Been about 2 months.

Scooter Flips - Honestly I thought I'd have Bri-flips dialed before these, 1 months.

Beyond that, I think it's really more on what way you want to pursue in scootering depending on what you like to ride, If you prefer grinds you'll probably land Smiths and crookeds before you land scooter flips. And vise-versa if you like park stuff, hips, kickers, pyramids ect. over ledges/rails.

I know exactly what you mean. I used to do the same with my skater friends. But now I can scooter flip sometimes and they think that's the shit.

And about tailwhips my best suggestion is to not spin the deck with your legs, insted rotate them with your wrists, leg your feet off the deck and have them still in front of your bars, keep your feet together that's important or you'll just grab the deck with 1 foot and the other will land on the ground. Spot the deck with your feet and catch with both feet at the same time. Don't try to fling the deck around with your feet it'll just come out awkward and wont spin around properly. The real motion is in your wrists. not your feet.
