SPEARFISHING!!!

Baiting a fish with a hook and a line is cheating and boring.

It's only fair if you chase them and shoot them.

These are from Catalina. We go out there a couple times a year to camp and fish. It is an island in the Pacific like 20 miles off the coast of SoCal. 50-80ft. visibility on any given day = amazing.

ehh. i go snorkeling alot, infact i went today. im not into the whole shooting them thing though. but i do take abalone every once in a while if i find some big ones.

The one in the pic is a halibut but mainly opal eye and shovel nose sharks... good fish tacos at the camp fire! I shot at a few sheeps head and a baracuda but my gun doesn't really have the range to get those bigger fish. If you have a blue water gun and go out in the deep kelp patties you can get white sea bass and yellow fin tuna.

The guns have cables attached so the fish is on your line if you hit it. The Hawaiian sling doesn't have any leash but you can put one on to be safe but it is for small fish anyways. If you are shooting big fish with a big gun you should probably have a float in the water and a some float line tied off to your spear or gun because it is impossible to bring in big fish on your own without a bouy but I've never gone after anything big enough to use that stuff... yet.

i scuba dive and fish, but i dont spearfish because really only do catch and release fishing.

catch and release spearfishing seems like it would fail for some reason, though Tommy Napolitan probably does it
