um... compression..haha. so has to be hella thick and strong, but still have room for the bolt.

i have that same problem.. ask raymond... i broke mine once and never again, get a broke stock fork and take the non threaded park cut it out as big as you can, then get it welded straight and the have some chromoly 3/16 thick pressed in there... that is the best, heavy but works great, oh make sure the reinforcement is from top to bottem, other wish the will bend or break.

ps the stock handle with tape on it dosnt work, the tape gives some flex when moving/bending the fork tube, so yeah... use a t-tube other wise the handle is point less
ps dont grind welds it makes them weak

im askind if the way is told nick to fix it was right or good, to reweld it would work ,but a new top fork tube that is longer would work better, so it's not to short.... the press some chromoly reinforceing in the fork tube that would make the weld point have less stress. but if someone uses the type of reinforcement that is a stock razor handle with tape around it, that dont work, the tape is soft which will give some movement in the fork tube, and bend or break. now if it is a realllllly tight fit, there is know movment so the fork tube should not bend or break.

The only way to fix it is to re weld it. Bring it to SD next time you come and I will fix it.
and thanks for the offer but i hardly ever make it out to sd. last weekend was my second time out there. and i would get it welded again like i did before but my fork is already too short and it is the main reason why my buffs broke last time.

so if anyone knows what size and where to buy a pipe strong enough to fit please tell me.

i know it wouldnt work too well i just put it in there because it was already cracking and a t tube wouldnt fit

you need ot replace the whole tube, there are 2 good ways that i can think of:

get a bike steerer tube, weld that on and reinforce it.

or get a piece of thick steel pipe to weld on, it doesn't have to be chromoly if you cant find any. the outer diameter you need is is 1 1/8" (aka 1.125") and you can get whatever length you want. if you dont know where to get it online, ask around at metal places/machine shop and someone should be able to point you in the right direction.

why are sr forks welded there?

its wehre the threads are cut off and the threadless part is welded on to the bottom part of the fork i think

YELLOW = SOLID PIECE OF STEEL THAT FITS IN THE TUBE PERFECTLY

ok

so like put the metal in the thing and stick the fork together and leave a 1 cm gap between the forks and do a thick weld

worked for rayan
