i thought about that awhile back but at the time the community was so small and everyone sucked at taking photos but now as everyone gets older and the site gets bigger I think it is a definite possibility.

-only one submission per person per week

-moderator nominates 5 photos

-people vote on which of the 5 they like

If someone is willing to assume that dedicated position then I am more than willing to do it but I don't want to start doing something and have the person be over it after a few weeks and then lose it. I want to know it is something that will last once we start it.

But with the winning photo of the week, would it be displayed on the front page or something? What would be like the glory in winning? haha.

Yea, can post it in a weekly news bulletin or something create a new news category for photos of the week.

yeah last night i didnt care about anything i was dead from the weekend. After school I'll probably make some updates and let people know that the system for it will change to all submissions will be reviewed by mods and the POTW will be announced every sunday and posted on the news page, so everyone doesn't get to see it beforehand.

Next question, are we just gonna delete each photo of the week when the next weeks winner comes around? cause we all know that we cant make a new news item for each one or the page will all be photos
maybe add a subtopic under the media section at the top of the page for videos and then one for POTW
i dunno i just dont want the site to start looking to cluttered

Each photo gets its own news bulletin but whoever makes it needs to select the category as "POTW" I just set it up so at the bottom of the news page you will be able to sort all news to just show photos.

i think instead of making new news articles for it every week, just edit the previous one with new potw and so it always stays on top aswell or something, otherwise the news page will be flooded with photos and not news

Yeah exactly, but we should keep an archive of all the photos so people can still look at them.

Shouldnt we wait every 7 days ( a week) not every 5 days?

The easiest way to archive them is to post them in a news bulletin and keep the categories at the bottom organized.

I doubled the amount of news displayed on the home page now too so real news won't get bumped off by pictures.

One of these days I will go through all the old news and categorize it which I should have been doing the past few years.
