Starnuts

I ride scs, and ONLY scs, never had any problem. It's come loose on me once, and thats only because my fork race wasnt on all the way and I did a big drop (which forced it down all the way), so then it was loose as hell.

I've pretty much only ridden vertx forks, and I've never had a problem with their integrated starnuts, look into buying some of their forks. I have snapped a forktube though, but it took me like 6 months.

i used to be all about hic, but after tom's incident i went back to scs for my own safety. i never would want that to happen to me because i chose the lighter compression. you should have the shop install it for you, then next time you buy forks get phoenix/zg/tilt forks that have the integrated threads inside the fork tube for the easiest assembly and use

I think Tom was riding an scs.

Vertx mastered the art of the starnut.
Truth.
You just ride scs or hic, but use an ics bolt with compatible forks instead of a starnut. If you use some proper loctite, it doesn't come loose, and there's no starnuts you have to install.
Use the hep Greg method ics, you have your fork, shim and top cap and ics bolt and star but put the ics though the bottom of the fork throught your shim and top cap and screw the starnut on and put you bars on
I need to see diagrams or something on these two, they don't make any sense.
