this might not be true everywhere, but in some places, I've heard married couples pay higher taxes - I mean it's not THAT big a difference, only like 500 bucks more each year, but it still adds up over time.
But yeah, there should be absolutely NO reason to prohibit gay marriage - the ONLY argument against it that barely makes sense is that it might be a "different" influence on the children if a gay couple decides to adopt, but most gay couples probably know how to take better care of a kid than a lot of straight parents do.. With that out of the way, pretty much the only argument that they ever give to counter gay marriage is "oooh well the bible doesn't say it's ok" yeah well in my bible it says you can go fuck yourself so dehhhhh. Religion should NEVER, EVER be a basis for political standpoints, EVER.
