Studying.

How do you guys do it?
Motivation, techniques, anything.
I can't seem to bring myself to sit down for more than 45 minutes at a time and study properly.
Doesn't really help that most of the study I do requires internet / computer.

i try to type up a study guide with questions and get my parents or brother to ask me them. you just have to commit to it and tell yourself how its gonna help you in the long run. set a time limit eg. half an hour of solid studying, then a break, then another half hour etc.

Make a timetable, and put in a few hours of something fun; so you know if you work you canto out or whatever. My timetable involves a few hours on my scooter and with my friends.

Go to the doctor and tell them you have various symptoms of ADD and that you feel Adderall or Conserta would be a good choice to help you with school/work.

Conserta made me super depressed, just a warning. I was taking a very high dose for my ADD though, 2 of those large orange 50mg caps if I remember correctly.

This is probably one of the threads I was hoping you'd post some solid info.
Got anything for me?
There's nothing similar to Adderall legal over the counter in Australia, already checked it all out.

well you mentioned motivation, im assuming if you can get motivated enough to study it wouldnt be a problem (obviously no other mental problems, or severe adhd). if so the dopamine receptors are a huge part of motivation, it gets synthesized into norepinephrine which is another neurotransmitter that increases focus. adderall works by increasing dopamine to a very high amount ( hence the pleasure and concentration)

so what ive been doing when i can't get adderall is raising my dopamine levels another way. im not sure if you have any opiates laying around but they help raise dopamine levels (5-10mgs of oxycodone has helped me out a lot in the passed). if not you can try taking some amino acid supplements, takes a while for it to turn into dopamine but its not going to be a huge boost. another thing you can try is poppy seeds, which has traces of opiates and will turn directly into dopamine once it starts getting metabolized, you may have to eat a good amount of them (a few bagels worth). sunflower seeds and almonds both increase levels of dopamine (which is why sunflower seeds are so damned addicting). and a big one is not eating too much sugar or saturated fat. both of those decrease dopamine levels. unfortunately i work at mcdonalds and i can actually notice the food slowing me down mentally. but yea doing all of that together should help you at least a little bit, it should also make you feel pretty happy.

thats all i can remember about this off the top of my head but it helped me a little when studying for my ged so its worth a shot.

Thanks.
I'll have a look into it, anything is worth a shot at the moment, I'm probably the worst studier I know.

i just go for the reading all my notes cause i write down everything, that actually helps alot, by writing down alot in class in helps me remember so when its time to studuy i just take a quick look and im good

i only need addies if i have a big exam or project, but the rest of the time, i just do it. you just have to tell yourself to do it, and if all else fails, last minute panic does the job

I procrastinate a bit, then lean on my natural intelligence to get me through things. It's worked out well so far, I have a 4.0 and I'm in a bunch of accelerated/ap courses.
It's pretty shitty advice, though.

I use adderal. I used to be on concerta. That shit sucked for me. My appetite would vanish completely.

I find that short bursts, about an hour or less, of studying/work, then a change of environment helps me. So I'll do some stuff in one place, break, move, then repeat.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's all about mental resolve honestly.

To add on to what Anthony said, I'm not sure about how easy it is/if you can get it in Australia, but Ritalin (Methylphenidate) is very comparable to Adderall. I take 10mg a day for a sleep disorder I have (CFS). That is a very low dose, but it does help me to focus and stay awake during the day. If you, uh,... sniff it, then the effects come on much faster and are more powerful but don't last as long as if taken orally. And Oxycodone does increase dopamine levels but I would just be weary as they are extremely addicting. I know from experience. But I won't get into my history with opiates right now.

And this is not really a suggestion, more than an anecdote and a question. I dip Grizzly Wintergreen and always use it when I'm studying. I find it does help me to focus more (Perhaps just a placebo) as tobacco is a weak stimulant. But I have heard that dip/chewing tobacco is illegal in Aus? Is this true? I find that funny because I love everything about Australia but if they don't sell tins then I'm not there. Haha.

it actually does raise dopamine levels so it probably isnt a placebo. it isnt the healthiest option though lol.

I studied about 10 times throughout my entire school career, and it was always for at very most an hour (if I was in a study group) or ten minutes (if it was just me). Therefore I can offer no techniques other than be smart and/or cheat.
