The "OLD" SR Thread.

I'm sure there's other threads, but let's see if we can get this one going strong.

Post everything you missed about scootering and the sport in general prior to 2008/09-ish

I miss the old SR. When the homepage was updated daily. I just miss how scootering was like 4 years ago.

- When box reinforcements on a pro deck was the "cool" thing.
- When we first started using pegs, and bolted on old sockets
- When EVERYONE used MGMT for their day edits
- When switching the colors of your foam grips with your friends was cool.
- I remember when Eaglesports really kinda began and Hep Greg would go to the parks and a MILLION kids would flock around him just to see a pair.
- When newbies rode New-A models instead of $400+ completes.
- When checkered griptape was "gnar".
- When I only went to TIC to ride flyout haha.
- When I would hotglue every wheel I had to make them last longer.
- When people rode their parts until they BROKE.
- When Andrew would update the PROTO thread with pics of the "upcoming" wheels to be released soon.
- When Coedie Donavan was the rider that everyone wanted to be when they grew up haha

Box reinforcements were essential, not a trend. Just saying.
Who here remembers the old-old sr that had the switching web headers/banners?

Yea, but I was meaning it was a trend for like us 12-13 year olds who never broke a part in their life haha, but yes you are correct.

And yes, I hated the bandanas haha

when this place was blue and not boring as fuck

edit: and when you could watch a park video and get hyped on it. i still remember that graham kimbell mini ramp video with that song by explosions in the sky that wanted me to scooter more than anything.

I really miss the old SR store. I used to just visit it once in a while because I wanted legit parts for my scooter.

I remember when seeing a kid ride 20 wide was ridiculous to see. And when "chode bars" were actually an issue because wide bars got so trendy.

When Eaglesports weren't scooter wheels.

When you had to be rich or have a hookup to get Micro metalcores.

When I had hair down to my shoulders. Too bad I never put out videos then.

yeah i never had micro metal cores, i wanted them forever until i got eagles.

and when there were no sliders, and you could only get full cores, and in a nice white color and a shit brown color urethane

i think this thread could be really fun\

edit:edit: just found that old video. brings back so many memories.

when the SR store and wee scooters were the only places you could look at parts.

The old SR store was so prime.

I also miss how almost nobody had avatars, or pictures in their signatures. And I miss how the only aftermarket parts you could buy in the store were practically raw and made of chromoly. Some of the steeziest looking scooter setups to date came back from the 2009 era.

^^Ha the store link goes to FD now. But holy moly, that brought me back.

When fork reinforcement was necessary because we only had threaded forks.

When I shit my pants when I saw the first SCS.

Admit it. EVERYONE had them at one point. Then there was that moment when you finally cut them off and had an unbelievable epiphany when you realized how legit it felt.
