The legalization of ALL drugs.

Ive just been browsing some libertarian pages and stumbled upon an article about the possible benefits of legalization of drugs and maybe Im stupid but what Ive read sounds fairly reasonable. The article is here: http://www.liberalia.com/htm/cm_drugs_prohibition.htm and it's worth reading even though some of you might not like it because it's long. Basically it often compares the today's drug policy to the times of alcohol prohibition in the states in 1930s, I might summarise it more extensively if you wish.

i skimmed through it.... i saw a few good points brought up. If you wanted to give a better summary of it.... you know give me the best points it makes id gladly read that. I just dont really enjoy reading all that much haha

Okay, so there we go. Legalization would make drugs no more a profit source for mafia. Drugs would be safer as they would be affordable (thus drug users wouldn't have to steal and maybe they could even afford a normal life), higher quality (as there would be proper quality standards like for any other products), thus people will be less likely to die from both intoxication with what drugs are polluted and overdorsing of the drug (as an addict doesnt now how much real drug does a deal of drug that he gets contain). Another positive effect would be the possibility of scientific development of drugs which would be less addictive (as the addictiveness would scare off the potential customers rather then make the ones buy it constantly) and safer to use. Also, the legalization would make the social status of drugs diffrent, thus making it possible to educate about safe drug use, instead of today's drug taboo - young people would no longer seek for excitement of using something forbidden. Not to mention the usual legalization benefits like legal employment of people, legal market, companies, taxing the industry etc. The general thing is that I found this a libertarian website - which means that it's all about personal freedom of choice. It also points out that it's riddiculous if people are given the rights of voting, stating opinions, deciding about the future of the nation but they're permited to freely decide what to do with THEIR OWN lives. The next thing is that a big part of imprisoned people are the ones sentenced for posessing or selling drugs, and most of the police forces are busy with the 'war with drugs' (it's even supposed that the prohibition of drugs is going on because of police forces needing 'an enemy'). Overall, it's about giving a person the right to choose drugs or not, as it says in the paraphrased Voltaires quote: Ã?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â??Ã?¢Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?¡Ã?â??Ã?¬Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Â¦Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??I donÃ?Æ?Ã?â??Ã?â??Ã?¢Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?¡Ã?â??Ã?¬Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?¾Ã?â??Ã?¢t approve of what you snort, but I will fight to the very end so that you can do itÃ?Æ??â??Ã?â??Ã?¢Ã?Æ?Ã?¢Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?¡Ã?â??Ã?¬Ã?Æ?ââ?¬Å¡Ã?â??Ã?Â.

All drugs? Seems shady. Even Meth? That shit is fucked.

Ill all for legal weed but all drugs.... I donno.

Police in the USA need to ease up on drugs... I almost died laughing when someone told me people actully go to JAIL for trafficing weed. Canada, you get a fine of like 250 and a warning.

Sound shady, huh? Give me a logical reason of WHY it should it sound shady. It sound shady because since you were born you are persuaded that drugs are bad for you AND BECAUSE OF THAT they should be prohibited. Why shouldn't it be legally possible to choose to use them or not? Look at that this way: the prohibition of drugs barely affects your choice, in most places you can always find a dealer and buy some. Another thing is what is stated in this article (and which is one of the most important claims of libertarianism): "The role of the authorities in a legally-constituted state is to protect citizens against attacks from others, not against themselves."

The reason of why something like that would never happen is, as to legalize drugs in just one country you would need practically the whole world to become more open minded (not to have the country's image destroyed by international criticism). A good quote to support this is:
The other paradox is that with these so-called champions of the rational, any rational debate on drugs is impossible. To paraphrase Timothy Leary, we can say that drugs are substances that induce irrational, delirious behaviour amongst those who never take them.

Haha. That made me chuckle, because who the hell wouldn't expect something like that to come out of the mouth of Mr. Tim Leary, who coincidentally happens to be the biggest hippie/druggie that ever used to walk the earth. But the funny thing is, if you have ever watched someone get completely hammered or stoned, you find the opposite of that saying to be true, almost all of the time.

you overlooked the whole addiction to drugs thing.
even if they are legalized, drug addicts will still have to PAY to get their druggos. They'll still keep stealing to pay for their drugs, which are legal anyway.
noone who does anything more than marijuana is a smart, responsible person. plenty of people smoke weed, and turn out to be completely fine, normal functioning people.. Most people who turn to cocaine, heroine, shrooms (the least harmful, i think in the REAL drugs), and bad drugs like that are idiots.. they end up in rehab, sleeping in a park in NYC in old rags and newspapers, or in the subways telling peple their sad lifestories to get some change, so they can buy some drugs, or 6 feet below the ground (dead you tards). i agree, some people can keep their normal lives, and do some party drugs, and have a good time. but they are the resopnsobile people. most people who are thrill seekers or just live life to the "fullest" will do some weird things to get money to buy drugs. and making it legal, will make it lower priced...which means that they'll still have to get money somehow...they can just get more for their money...growing their addiction towards the drug.
sure, ALL drugs are legal in mexico....look at mexico now.

just my two cents towards legalizing all drugs.

Dre, it says "TO PARAPHRASE Timothy Leary", He didn't say this.

Ahh. The question is: should people's freedom be taken away just because some of them are idiots and retards? If you suffer because of your stupidity it's your fault. Should scootering be prohibited because some stupid kids habe bombed down the hill, then hit their heads and died, thus 'proving that it's a very dangerous activity'? Not to mention that if you're a 'thrill seeker' as you have described it you can have access to drugs no matter if they're legal or not and I dont exactly know if the 'level of addiction' is proportional to the amount of drugs you can afford, I think that if you're an addict you're not into drugging yourself as much as you can but you need some amount of drugs constantly, but I might be wrong.

I know that, and I am saying that it is easy to paraphrase him due to his fondness for drugs...

ahh the rant thread. Well today i had my first day of school. Found out i have no classes with my friends like AT ALL.... its gay. lol.. my gym class has about 13 kids (exactly.. not about haha) and only me and 1 other are from my grade... and in some of my classes they ask you what you did in the summer and whatnot so im just like "working and riding scooters".... take a bunch of shit for that. Also wearing my whip scooters shirt didnt help but you gotta represent ya know. haha. cant wait till my SR shirts get here. gonna wear those like YACE. anyway... if anyone asks.. i dont scooter anymore.. i gotta get a rep! haha shittt...

how many other people are in school already or about to start... and how'd all your first days go?

First day was today, pratically only reminded myself how I suck at life. Damn, I wish I lived in US so I could possibly hang out with emo kids while 'no one understands me', all the people excluding possibly a few look like morons and retards to me, like a teacher walks in and says 'The professor ... isn't here today but he left some homework for you' and the whole class goes laughing their ass off.

I got myself banned.
I hate New Jersey bikers. We met some bikers around here before and had a conversation about how we ride park in NJ, first thing they said was 'new jersey bikers suck they all wear girl pants and tight jeans'. I can confirm this, haha, theres an exception of a few bikers (scotty cramner and schmitty from edison). We went to Woodbridge skatepark yesterday, we get there and theres 20 bikers all in a circle like rigth next to where we parked. We get in the park and meet up with Frank and a few riders... were on the deck of this one ramp and all the bikers from outside came onto the deck of the ramp, and a bunch from the park. Theres must have been 20 bikers, all with tight pants and tight shirts on. About 5 of them auctually rode, i hate kid that come to the park and sit on a ramp the whole time cause they suck. Some of them talked shit while they sat there, seriously go the fuck home. There was also like 20 skaters there but i didnt hear anything from them. There was a bunch of ramp sluts there, and losers that goto the park and sit around. Some of them were even sitting on a picnic bench that has a ramp up to it that your supposed to ride, not sit on. <3 Philly bikers, we ended up going to edison park like 15 minutes away, having a kickass session riding with the one of the local bmxers there

im ranting on AP U.S. History. it seriously requires about 2.5 hours of homework daily if you want a good grade in the class.

why yes it is.... and its like one of the most gnar words ever.

i hate the improper use of YACE.

ive been saying YACE for awhile, and i had no clue other people actually said it. apparently youre all completely wrong though. saying yes or whatever is just gay.

YACE means "your ass" taken from "your ase". eg: "yo, did you ever get a pimple on YACE?"

get it right dibble
