Tilt forks threads stripped

Any way I can still use these with scs or HIc? The top cap is slightly stripped on the end & the thread on the actual fork starts out stripped so I can't get my bolt in them. Sucks.

machine shop should be able to salvage both pieces.

As mentioned they can chase the threads in the fork.

probably cut off the buggered up end on the top cap and still be able to use it- although they may charge 15 bux or more iffin' they feel like it. Their time isn't free.

Are Tilt forks hollow at the other end? Could you drive a starnut up there from the other end and then use a standard Top cap and longer bolt?

No it was in good enough..I noticed that my headset wouldn't tighten all th way but also wouldn't be all the way down like something was stopping it but only when the hic shim was there. Works fine with other forks. The top of the fork was bubbled out so the hic shim couldn't go on anymore is what I presume the problem was with the stripping.

Go get a file from like a hardware store or something and then file both the top cap and fork until there are fresh threads. voila problem solved.
