Tips on spray panting a scooter?

Hey guys, I was wondering how well paint would stick to aluminium, and any tips on painting your scooter handlebars and deck. Spray paint most likely wouldnt stick, so I was thinking of either sanding the dekc and bars, and then spray painting it. I was also thinking of using etching primer, as that would be easier. What methods do you guys do to spray paint your handlebars and deck?

use self etching primer. it helps, it digs (etches) itself into the material, then gives a good base for the actual color paint to stick to. and use dupli color, some of the best rattle can stuff, and put a clear coat over it.

Steps:
1. Raw whatever you're painting.
2. 2 coats of primer.
3. 3 coats of "rust-o-leum High-performance enamel"

Unless your Scooter is going to sit on a shelf and be only for Display I wouldn't go to all the trouble of Etching, Primer and Clear coating.

After one session the deck and bars are gonna be beat up anyway.

Bars: lightly sand them to roughen up the surface and then give them a shot with the spray paint. Follow the directions on dry times and when you can apply another coat< this makes the biggest difference as the 1st coat really needs to cure before you apply the 2nd coat.

Usually it is ok within 1 hr or you have to wait 24 hrs until the next coat.

Deck: just make sure it is clean and sand lightly- same as above.
