Tips on toothpicks?

You can't hop into them, you gotta kinda roll into them. If you're doing them on quarters, then just turn and lift up the back end as if your doing a nose manual. Feel free to put a foot down while your doing this at first, just so you can get used to getting into them.

But that's the number one thing. I always see people going at a quarter pipe with quite a bit of speed, and airing out into them, and they can't even get close. Your apex height should be right at the coping so that you have to lift up the back end, and the front end will just slide into place.

If you're doing them in grinds, then just start out by doing toothpick taps, which is where you just grind a tiny spot on the front peg. Then you can try adding distance and angle, until you get them into the beast mode category.

^^ this, plus don't carve into them, go straight towards the coping and slot into it, and don't hop out, sort of tilt yourself into the quarter and be careful not to let your back peg hit the quarter cause you will get raped by the floor

to learn mine I sorta used just a steep bank/hip edge type thing. but yeah put your foot down at first, and make sure you remember to just keep your deck and bars in a straight v. dont ride up at an angle because if you do the deck ill almost certainly slide out to the left (or right) thats about it.
Oh yeah and having pegs helps:) haha
