Titanium is stronger, but heavier than aluminum. It has a high strength to weight ratio, that does not make it the strongest stuff out there, it just means for it's weight, it has alot of strength compared to other materials of the same weight.

Steel alloys flex, meaning that there isnt as much pressuredue to it being able to exhert some by bending a bit,

Where as titanium doesnt flex it just snaps, the other thing is, if you are running it ( I know your not) but if you run it as an axle, it can warp so easily meanign you can go over the front, or get a lovely flat spot in your wheel
