travelling with your scooter

okay, so im going to rome in august and i was wonderin how ppl tke their scooters on the plane (the baggage hold e.t.c) because we're only alowed 15kg in hand luggage, and thats all we can take (no suitcases) so cud any1 give me any tips on how i can get it on the plane??

I took the bars off and put them into the huge bag together with clothes and everything...
Didn't had any problems...

Train is even easyer, no need to take it apart...

What airline are you flying with and from what airport? Each airport has security measures but some are quite a bit more....err long winded then others. I'd say with my experience of flying planes out of tons of different airports that most won't have a problem as long as you take the bars off and just put them at the bottom your luggage with your clothes. I've been to one small airport though that wouldn't even let me take a skateboard on with me. It really depends. Most Class B airports (big airports like LAX, Dallas/Ft. Worth, etc) won't care. They've got bigger issues then a scooter.

Just pack it with bars off and you should be good.

u cant carry on on international flight.its a metal object.
u haveto put it in the oversized luggage area.just take the bars off ive don it heaps.
or just fold it watevers easiest.but yeah they will just ask you to put it in oversized luggage and it goes onto a plane a seperate way.

ive taken my scooter like 10 times. you go through security with it...all together. then you just bring it to the gate. they will put a tag on it. it than goes with like the strollers and stuff. its worked for me everytime

not true, i've flown with it a bunch of times from new york airports. they will search your bag though.

One time I tried to explain to one of the airport baggage check people that I had a scooter in my suitcase, and that it might look weird on the x-ray. He just didn't understand. He kept saying "oh, you mean a skateboard?" or "roller skates?" I kept trying to explain, but it didn't work. The guy just couldn't picture the thing I was trying to describe and apparently had never seen a kid on a razor. Finally he just said "Listen kid, I dont know what the heck you're talking about. All I know is that 'scooter' is a term from the 70s that means a guy who sleeps-er- gets around and has lots of lady friends. I don't know what you got in your bag, but I can assure you it ain't no scooter". Dumbfounded, I told him it was a skateboard and we walked away laughing.
